Bespoke full home and boutique hotel interior design
Ilze Reinke Interiors provides bespoke interior design for homes and boutique hotels in Cheltenham. Every project is designed around how a property is actually lived in, balancing the character of the building with the practical demands of a modern household. Work ranges from full home schemes to individual rooms and hospitality interiors across Cheltenham and the wider Cotswolds.
An interior designer in Cheltenham plans how a home works before deciding how it looks. Layout, circulation, lighting and storage are resolved first. Finishes, furniture and fabrics follow. The result is an interior that is comfortable to live in rather than one that simply photographs well.
Cheltenham has unusually varied housing for a town of its size, and that variety is the reason a standard template rarely works. Regency terraces and villas around Montpellier and Lansdown sit alongside Victorian and Edwardian family homes in Tivoli and Charlton Kings, with newer developments on the edges of town. Each brings different constraints. A Regency townhouse offers tall sash windows, deep skirtings and generous proportions, but often awkward service space and very little built in storage. A recent build offers volume and efficiency with fewer architectural cues to design against. Ilze Reinke Interiors treats both the same way: measure the property properly, understand how the household actually moves through it, then design to the building rather than to a trend.
Cheltenham properties usually need decisions that let period detail and everyday function coexist. Proportion, circulation and material selection are settled early, so original features are supported rather than crowded by whatever is added around them.
In practice that means the layout is fixed before anything decorative is chosen. Where a chimney breast, a bay window or a run of original cornice sets the rhythm of a room, furniture is planned to that rhythm instead of fighting it. Where a house has been extended, the join between old and new is handled deliberately, using flooring, joinery lines and lighting so the transition reads as intentional. Materials are selected for how they age as much as for how they look on installation day. Ilze Reinke Interiors works this way across Cheltenham and the Cotswolds because it is what keeps an interior coherent several years after completion, not only at handover.
Hospitality interiors carry demands private homes do not. Heavier use, faster room turnaround, and every surface judged by a paying guest. Specification has to hold up commercially as well as visually, which changes how fabrics, finishes and joinery are chosen.
Ilze Reinke Interiors designed guest rooms and suites at Ellenborough Park, the country house hotel on the edge of Cheltenham below Cleeve Hill. The work covered individual bedrooms through to signature suites, including the Arkle Suite and the Kauto Star Suite, each treated as its own scheme rather than a repeated template. Beneath centuries old beams the brief was to let the architecture lead, with jewel toned textiles, four poster beds framed by existing timber, and layouts that move easily between sleeping and sitting areas. The full project, room by room, is set out in the Ellenborough Park interior design case study.
Projects run from a single room to a whole house, and you can start at any stage. The most common entry points are a full home scheme, a focused refresh of the principal rooms, or one consultation to unblock decisions already in progress.
Most projects follow the same sequence whether the work is one room or an entire house. Knowing the order in advance makes it easier to judge where a project sits and which decisions are coming next.
Cheltenham sits at the centre of a wider working area, and travel to site is part of every project rather than an extra.
